One Security Personnel Killed in Ramechhap Election Vehicle Accident After Jeep Plunges 200 Meters Off Cliff

A security personnel died after a Bolero jeep carrying election officials and police plunged nearly 200 meters off a cliff in Sirubari, Ramechhap Municipality–2, while en route to deliver election materials to local polling centers.

Kathmandu — One security personnel was killed in a Ramechhap election vehicle accident after a jeep carrying election officials plunged nearly 200 meters off a cliff, authorities said. The accident occurred in Sirubari, Ward No. 2 of Ramechhap Municipality, when a Bolero jeep (registration number Na 7 Kha 6768) veered off the road and fell down a steep slope.

Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa confirmed that the vehicle was transporting election staff and security personnel at the time of the crash. One member of the security forces died in the incident.

According to local administration officials, approximately 10 to 11 election officials and police personnel were on board the jeep. The team had departed from Manthali and was en route to deliver election materials to polling centers at Kalikadevi Secondary School and Deurali Secondary School when the accident occurred.

Rescue operations were launched immediately, involving local residents, security forces and government officials. Authorities said details regarding injuries and the condition of other passengers are still being assessed.

The incident took place during an active election deployment period, raising safety concerns in the district. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
