Kathmandu — Nepali Congress Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma has said that public confidence in the party is increasing as the date for the upcoming House of Representatives election approaches.
Sharma made the remarks while welcoming central members and proportional candidates of the Janata Samajbadi Party into the Nepali Congress at a party program. He said the political environment across the country is becoming favorable for the Congress and stated that, at present, the party is positioned to become the largest political force.
He added that if the current trend continues, the party could reach a position to secure a majority within a week.
Party Reform and Public Expectations
Sharma said the Nepali Congress has undergone changes following its special general convention and is working to meet public expectations. Referring to voters seeking change, he stated that the party has transformed itself and adapted to evolving political circumstances, including what he described as a “Gen Z movement.”
He also said that the number of people joining the Nepali Congress is increasing daily and described the party as stronger than before.
Self-Transformation and National Change
Emphasizing internal reform, Sharma said that meaningful national change begins with self-transformation. “If someone says they can change the country without changing themselves, we will listen,” Sharma said. “But those who can transform themselves are the ones who can transform the country.”
He stated that thousands of people are joining the Nepali Congress every day, which he described as a sign of growing public confidence.
Organizational Focus and Election Commitment Document
After traveling from Chitwan to several western districts and returning to Kathmandu, Sharma said party leaders and cadres are working in unity to strengthen grassroots structures rather than relying on rhetoric.
He said both party members and the public are expressing increasing trust in the Nepali Congress. The party is scheduled to release its election commitment document in Janakpur Dham on Wednesday.
