The central secretariat of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) will meet today to review the recently concluded House of Representatives election and finalize the names of lawmakers under the proportional representation system.
According to party officials, the meeting is scheduled for 1:00 PM at the residence of party chair KP Sharma Oli in Gundu, Bhaktapur. UML Central Office Secretary Dr. Bhishma Adhikari said the meeting will review the election and determine the names of candidates to be nominated as proportional representation lawmakers.
Party leaders are also expected to assess the overall outcome of the parliamentary election, evaluate the party’s performance, and discuss political strategies moving forward. Finalizing the list of UML lawmakers under the proportional representation system will be one of the main agendas of the meeting.
The Election Commission of Nepal has set a deadline for political parties to submit the names of candidates to be elected to the House of Representatives under the proportional representation category. UML has begun preparations to finalize its list within the deadline set by the commission.
Under Nepal’s electoral provisions, political parties must ensure inclusive representation when submitting proportional lists, including women, Dalits, indigenous nationalities, Madhesis, Tharus, Muslims, and other communities. UML is preparing its nominations in line with these requirements.
