The United States has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information about Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and several senior officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In a notice issued by the U.S. Department of State, officials said individuals who provide information about the activities of key IRGC leaders may receive a reward under the “Rewards for Justice” program.
The State Department said the individuals listed have allegedly played roles in directing and controlling IRGC structures involved in planning, organizing, and carrying out terrorist activities around the world.
Officials Included in the U.S. List
According to the announcement, the list includes 10 Iranian officials.
Those named include:
- Mojtaba Khamenei — Iran’s Supreme Leader
- Ali Asghar Hejazi — Deputy Chief of Staff of the Supreme Leader’s Office
- Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi — Military adviser
- Ali Larijani — Secretary and adviser to the Supreme National Security Council
- Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni — Interior Minister
- Esmail Khatib — Minister of Intelligence and Security
The State Department said the list also includes the secretary of Iran’s Defense Council, additional advisers to the Supreme Leader, and senior IRGC commanders.
The U.S. State Department urged potential informants to submit information through the TOR-based tipline operated by the Rewards for Justice program or through encrypted platforms such as Signal. Officials said these channels allow individuals to share information securely.
Announcement Comes Amid Rising Middle East Tensions
The announcement comes as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise following recent military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets.
According to Iranian media reports, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in an explosion on February 28. Following the incident, reports said his son Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed as Iran’s new Supreme Leader.
Iranian media have also reported that although he was appointed earlier this week, Mojtaba Khamenei has not yet appeared publicly.
First Message Broadcast on State Television
On Thursday, Iranian state television broadcast the first message attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei. A television presenter read the statement on air, in which he said blood would be answered with blood, signaling retaliation for the recent attacks.
He also said Iran would continue its policy regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Several international media outlets have also reported that Khamenei may have been injured in the February 28 joint U.S.–Israel strike, with reports saying he suffered a broken leg and facial injuries.
