A government employee was killed in a tipper truck accident in the New Baneshwor area of Kathmandu on Tuesday morning, police said. According to Kathmandu District Police, a tipper truck (Ba.2 Ka 3229) traveling from Bijulibazar toward Tinkune struck a scooter in New Baneshwor.
The scooter rider, Badri Koirala, sustained critical injuries in the collision. Koirala, 48, was originally from Inaruwa Municipality–5 in Sunsari district and had been residing in Lokanthali, Bhaktapur. He was serving as a Nayab Subba (non-gazetted officer) at the Tuberculosis Center in Bhaktapur.
The scooter involved in the accident was registered as Province 3–001 Ba 945. Police arrested the tipper driver, identified as 26-year-old Bikash Thapa Magar from Bhumlichok in Gorkha district.
Authorities said the tipper truck involved in the Kathmandu accident was being used for garbage collection. An investigation into the tipper truck accident in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, is ongoing, police said.
