Srinivas Yadav Quits JSP Nepal, Joins CPN-UML and Withdraws Candidacy in Rupandehi-3

Srinivas Yadav has resigned from JSP Nepal and withdrawn his candidacy in Rupandehi-3, joining CPN-UML ahead of the House of Representatives election.

Srinivas Yadav addresses a press conference in Bhairahawa on Monday after resigning from JSP Nepal and joining CPN-UML, withdrawing his candidacy from Rupandehi-3.

Srinivas Yadav, a House of Representatives candidate from Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 representing the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has resigned from the party and joined the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN-UML), withdrawing his candidacy ahead of the upcoming election.

Yadav, who is also a central committee member of JSP Nepal, made the announcement during a press conference in Bhairahawa on Monday. Speaking to reporters, he said that during his campaign and interactions with voters in Rupandehi-3, he observed stronger public support for CPN-UML.

He stated that considering the current national situation and concerns over political stability and nationalism, he concluded that UML represents a key political force capable of leading the country.

In a written statement released the same day, Yadav confirmed that he had resigned from his ordinary membership and all responsibilities within JSP Nepal. He also announced the withdrawal of his candidacy and declared that he would now work to generate public support for the UML candidate in the constituency.

UML Leaders Welcome Yadav; Party Claims Strengthened Position in Rupandehi

Yadav was formally welcomed into CPN-UML by party leaders including Rupandehi-3 candidate Basudev Ghimire, Rupandehi-4 candidate Pramod Kumar Yadav, central committee member Bhumishwar Dhakal, Guma Devi Acharya, and district chair Yagya Gaire.

Following Yadav’s entry, UML candidate Basudev Ghimire said the move had strengthened his electoral prospects in Constituency No. 3, which has 140,035 registered voters. District Chair Gaire stated that the development had also reinforced the party’s position in Constituency No. 4.

Pramod Kumar Yadav, the UML candidate from Constituency No. 4, had joined the party shortly before filing his candidacy. Srinivas Yadav was elected from Rupandehi Constituency No. 4 in the 2017 general election as a candidate of the Nepali Congress and was defeated in the 2022 election. After not receiving a ticket from the Nepali Congress for the current election, he had contested from Rupandehi-3 under JSP Nepal before switching to CPN-UML.
