Kathmandu — The secretariat meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will be held virtually after party chairman Rabi Lamichhane experienced health problems.
The party had earlier planned to hold the meeting physically at its central office in Chamat. However, the meeting format was changed to an online session considering Lamichhane’s health condition.
Several senior leaders had already reached the party’s central office to attend the meeting. Those present included Deputy Chair DP Aryal, party spokesperson Manish Jha, and leader Sobita Gautam.
After the decision was made to conduct the meeting virtually, leaders who had arrived at the office began leaving the premises. Speaking with journalists at the party office, spokesperson Manish Jha confirmed that the meeting would now take place through a virtual platform.
According to Jha, the main agenda of the secretariat meeting is to finalize the party’s list of candidates under the proportional representation system for the House of Representatives election.
Political parties in Nepal are required to submit the names of lawmakers selected under the proportional representation system to the Election Commission within a set deadline. The RSP secretariat meeting has been called to finalize the candidate list and send the names to the Election Commission.
