RSP Secretariat Meeting to Finalize Proportional Candidates, Discuss Statute Amendment for Balen Shah

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to hold a secretariat meeting on Saturday afternoon to finalize its candidates under the proportional representation system for the House of Representatives. The time and venue of the meeting have not yet been finalized, according to party sources.

RSP Secured 57 Proportional Seats

In the House of Representatives election held on march 5, the RSP received 5,183,493 votes under the proportional representation category. Based on this result, the Election Commission of Nepal announced that the party had secured 57 seats under the proportional system.

On march 12, the Election Commission officially declared the number of proportional seats allocated to each party and gave political parties three days to submit the names of their recommended candidates. The RSP has called the secretariat meeting to make the required decision on those nominations.

Statute Amendment Also on Agenda

Along with deciding the proportional representation candidates, the meeting is also expected to discuss several internal party matters. According to party sources, the agenda may include amending the party’s statute aimed at paving the way for senior leader Balen Shah to become prime minister.

The meeting is also expected to discuss other political and organizational matters following the recent election results.
