Rai, who contested the 2022 general election from Kaski-1, said he will step away from active politics and work independently in social service.

Rai made the announcement on Thursday through social media, stating that he had been unhappy with the party’s candidate selection process from the beginning.
“Politics does not seem to be a field meant for straightforward and honest individuals. From today onward, I will not spend a single coin or a single second on politics or any political party,” Rai wrote. He also stated that he will now work as an independent citizen and focus on social service.
Rai had contested the 2022 general election from Kaski Constituency-1 as an RSP candidate, securing 10,941 votes. In the same election, the RSP received 15,864 proportional representation votes from the constituency.
