Kathmandu — Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday inspected her private residence in Budhanilkantha–2 for the first time since it was set on fire during the Gen Z protest on Bhadra 24.

Bhandari visited the site in the morning to assess the structural damage caused by the arson. The property was among several government and private buildings torched during the protest.

Security personnel evacuated her to a safe location on the day of the incident. She has since been residing at her daughter’s residence in Baluwatar. Local authorities confirmed that multiple sections of the house sustained significant damage. A detailed assessment of the losses remains ongoing.

The incident has renewed concerns over the protection of public and private property during periods of unrest, as officials continue reviewing the extent of the damage and necessary next steps.
