Rajendra Lingden Objects to Kathmandu Prohibitory Order Over Gyanendra Shah Welcome Program

RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden has raised objections to a prohibitory order issued by the Kathmandu District Administration targeting a welcome program for former King Gyanendra Shah, questioning whether the move is intended to safeguard or disrupt the election environment.

Kathmandu: Rajendra Lingden, chairperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has expressed objection to the prohibitory order issued by the Kathmandu District Administration Office targeting a welcome program for former king Gyanendra Shah.

Lingden raised concerns over the administration’s decision and questioned the intent behind imposing the restriction.

Questions Over Election Security Justification

Lingden accused the authorities of using election security as a pretext while potentially disturbing the political environment. In a message shared on social media on Thursday, he questioned whether the prohibitory order was genuinely intended to prevent disruption of the election or whether it was itself an attempt to disturb it.

“The prohibitory order issued by the Kathmandu District Administration Office — is it meant to prevent the election from being disturbed, or is it itself trying to disturb it? This must be made clear,” Lingden wrote.

He further warned that any system or regulation, if enforced contrary to the spirit of the Constitution and merely according to the will of those in power, ultimately loses its legitimacy.
