RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane Says Singha Durbar Can Be Rebuilt but Lost Lives Cannot Be Recovered

RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane says physical structures like Singha Durbar can be rebuilt, but human lives lost during recent unrest cannot be recovered.

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane has said that while physical structures can be rebuilt, the loss of human life can never be compensated. Speaking at an election rally in Gorkha, Lamichhane addressed recent incidents and rejected what he described as misleading narratives surrounding the burning of Singha Durbar.

He argued that the situation escalated only after gunfire was opened during the protest. “If shots had not been fired on the bhadra 23, the tragic events that followed would not have occurred,” he said.

Lamichhane described the burning of a government building as unfortunate and clarified that there was no sense of pride in such destruction.

“Various interpretations are being made about the burning of Singha Durbar. But we have not taken pride in any structure being set on fire. Buildings can be reconstructed, but those who lost their lives will not return,” he stated.

He expressed sympathy for the bereaved families, emphasizing that the loss of a child is irreversible. The RSP chairperson added that neither he nor any other leader is above scrutiny, underscoring the party’s commitment to political accountability and transparency. Lamichhane also addressed a separate election gathering in Palungtar Municipality on the same day.
