Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party, reached the district headquarters Rukumkot after walking for nearly one hour from Nayagad–Deukhola via Nayagad in Sisne Rural Municipality-2 during his ongoing election campaign in Rukum East.
Following visits to remote settlements across the district, Prachanda addressed a press conference and shared details of his outreach.
Campaign Across Remote Municipalities
Prachanda said he completed campaign visits within two to three days across all wards of Bhume and Putha Uttarganga rural municipalities, including geographically remote areas. He stated that despite physical challenges, the level of public participation and enthusiasm provided encouragement.
Infrastructure, Education and Employment Priorities
According to Prachanda, residents in Rukum East raised concerns primarily related to infrastructure development. These include expansion of road networks, completion of unfinished roads, continuation of ongoing projects, and construction of bridges in areas lacking connectivity.
He added that citizens also expressed interest in improvements in education, tourism development and employment opportunities. Prachanda noted that while there is acceptance and satisfaction regarding work carried out by previously elected representatives, the public expectation is now focused on improving the quality of development outcomes.
He described the level of trust shown toward him in Rukum East as significant and said it carries responsibility. Memorandums received during the campaign will be categorized, and he pledged to deliver qualitative development in the district within five years.
Referring to Rukum East as the “base land of revolution,” Prachanda said a new socialist journey would begin from the district.
“The country is in a difficult situation,” he said. “Earlier, the people’s war and revolutionary movements began from this base area. I have come to Rukum East to deliver a new message. The message from here will be important for the country.”
