Nepal Home Ministry Says Preparations Completed for House of Representatives Election

Nepal’s Home Ministry says administrative and security preparations for the House of Representatives election have been completed following a nationwide review with Chief District Officers.

Kathmandu — Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that all administrative and security preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives election have been completed nationwide.

The announcement was made following a virtual meeting held Wednesday morning between the ministry and Chief District Officers (CDOs) from all 77 districts, where officials reviewed the overall readiness for the election, including security arrangements and logistical management.

The meeting was chaired by Home Secretary Rajkumar Shrestha and attended by senior ministry officials along with the district administrators. During the meeting, officials provided updates on election preparedness, the deployment of security personnel, and the distribution of election materials to polling stations.

According to Ministry co-spokesperson Rama Acharya, Chief District Officers from all districts reported that preparations for the election have been completed and that the overall security situation across the country remains normal.

Officials also discussed possible security concerns during the voting process. The meeting reviewed the current law-and-order situation, precautionary measures to be implemented on election day, and the security sensitivity of different areas. Discussions also focused on strengthening coordination between the central government and district administrations.

Home Secretary Shrestha instructed Chief District Officers to ensure strong and effective security arrangements to safeguard the election process. He emphasized the need for vigilance and coordinated action among security agencies to ensure that voting is conducted smoothly and without disruption.

Chief District Officers also informed the meeting that election personnel, security forces, and necessary election materials have already reached the designated polling stations. The Ministry of Home Affairs expressed confidence that the election will be conducted peacefully across the country.
