Former Minister for Education, Science and Technology Mahabir Pun has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Myagdi in Nepal’s parliamentary election, securing 22,850 votes, according to the final vote count.
According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, Pun’s closest rival Harikrishna Shrestha of the CPN-UML received 7,919 votes. Karna Bahadur Bhandari of the Nepali Congress secured 6,884 votes, while Arjun Thapa of the Nepal Communist Party received 3,529 votes.
Chief Election Officer Surya Bahadur Thapa confirmed the results after the completion of the vote counting process. A total of 86,397 voters were registered in Myagdi. Of them, 46,215 votes were cast in the election held on Thursday.
