Jagan Nath Chaudhary, a candidate from the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal (NUP) in Kailali Constituency-5, has joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and withdrawn his candidacy from the upcoming election.
Chaudhary said his decision was based on shared political priorities with RSP candidate Anand Chand. He stated that his core agenda — good governance, inclusivity and development — aligns with that of Chand, prompting him to integrate into the party.
The announcement was made during a party entry event attended by RSP Central Committee member Laxman Tharu, leaders Hari Regmi and Jashu Bhatt, and candidate Anand Chand. Party representatives welcomed Chaudhary into the RSP.
Speaking at the event, Chaudhary said he believed collaboration was necessary to advance common goals. “My agenda was good governance, inclusivity and development, which are also priorities of the RSP candidate. For meaningful change, we felt it was important to come together, and I therefore suspended my candidacy,” he said.
Chand said Chaudhary’s entry strengthens the party in Kailali-5. “We feel the RSP has become stronger with his arrival,” Chand said, describing him as an experienced and mature political leader.
Chaudhary previously contested the provincial assembly election, where he received more than 5,000 votes. The development comes as political activities intensify in Kailali-5 ahead of the election.
