Former King Gyanendra Shah to Arrive in Kathmandu by Helicopter After Weather Disrupts Flight
Former King Gyanendra Shah is set to arrive in Kathmandu by helicopter from Jhapa after weather conditions disrupted his planned commercial flight, prompting heightened security at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Kathmandu — Former King Gyanendra Shah will arrive in Kathmandu from Jhapa by helicopter on Friday after weather conditions disrupted his original travel plan.
Shah had initially been scheduled to travel to the capital on a regular Buddha Air flight. However, due to unfavorable weather that was expected to delay the aircraft, he decided to switch to a helicopter service.
According to airport security sources, Shah will depart Jhapa at 12:00 noon aboard a Kailash Helicopter. The flight is expected to take approximately one hour and ten minutes, with landing scheduled at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Pro-monarchy supporters are preparing to gather at Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome him. Anticipating possible crowd activity during the reception, security agencies have adopted heightened alert measures in and around the airport premises.
Police officials said additional security arrangements have been put in place to prevent any untoward incidents during his arrival. Authorities have urged the public to remain peaceful and comply with security protocols.
