Kathmandu — Nepali Congress General Secretary Gururaj Ghimire has said the party is moving forward representing a new generation following his election through the special general convention.
Speaking at the party’s central office in Sanepa after formally assuming office, Ghimire stated that the Congress has undergone transformation not only in leadership but also in policy direction. He said the party has introduced reforms that reflect the voice and ownership of younger citizens and has renewed itself to work more closely with the public.
Policy Reform and Party Renewal
Ghimire said the special general convention provided the opportunity to align the party more closely with the aspirations of the people. He emphasized that the Congress has preserved its history and legacy while initiating renewal within the organization.
According to him, this revival has generated new energy inside the party and has begun transforming public frustration into hope. He expressed confidence that the renewed direction would influence upcoming elections and contribute to major achievements that would benefit both the country and its citizens.
Generation Z and Governance Agenda
The General Secretary said Generation Z is present in every Nepali household and has made significant sacrifices in the country’s history, describing young people as the future of Nepal.
Referring to political unrest on Bhadra 23 and 24, he said the events reflected legitimate demands for good governance, elimination of corruption, and the freedom to use social media. He stated that the Nepali Congress has adopted these issues as part of its political agenda moving forward.
Call for Grassroots Engagement
Ghimire urged all party candidates to maintain close and direct relationships with voters. He called on candidates to visit households, listen to citizens’ concerns, and establish active engagement at the grassroots level.
He also asked candidates to clearly communicate that the party has renewed both its leadership and policies, emphasizing that citizens are central to the country’s future and national development.
