Sobita Gautam Sets Record with 59,277 Votes in Nepal Parliamentary Election, Wins Chitwan-3 Seat

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Sobita Gautam has set a new record in the history of Nepal’s House of Representatives elections after winning the highest number of votes ever received by a parliamentary candidate.

Gautam was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Chitwan Constituency No. 3, defeating Renu Dahal of the Nepal Communist Party by a wide margin. According to the election results, Gautam secured 59,277 votes, while Dahal received 20,615 votes.

The vote total received by Gautam is the highest ever recorded in Nepal’s parliamentary election history. Previously, in the 2017 House of Representatives election, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli won from Jhapa-5 with 57,139 votes.

In the same election, Parbat Gurung of the CPN-UML was elected from Dolakha with 55,361 votes. In the 2023 by-election in Chitwan-2, RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane won the seat with 54,176 votes. In the current election, he received 54,402 votes from the same constituency.

Meanwhile, several other constituencies also recorded notable vote totals. RSP candidate Rubina Acharya won from Morang-6 with 55,513 votes. Similarly, Badan Kumar Bhandari was elected from Kavre-2 with 53,344 votes.

Another RSP candidate, Sulabh Kharel, won the election with 56,550 votes, defeating CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bishnu Paudel, who received 12,861 votes.
