He noted that cooperation among the government, private sector and civil society is essential to achieve the constitutional goals of social justice, inclusive development and prosperity.
He also paid tribute to political parties, citizens and martyrs who contributed to the establishment of the republic. The President urged everyone to use Republic Day as an opportunity to strengthen national unity, mutual trust and cooperation.
Vice President Calls for a More Responsive Democracy
Vice President Yadav said democracy should become more vibrant, accountable and people-centered. He stated that the federal democratic republican system can be further strengthened only when citizens fully embrace both their rights and responsibilities under the Constitution.
He described Republic Day not only as a celebration but also as a moment for self-reflection. According to him, it is important to assess whether the country’s governance system is meeting the expectations of the people. He also emphasized that the republic cannot become stronger without the meaningful participation of marginalized, oppressed and excluded communities.
Both leaders said the republic is the result of Nepal’s long struggle, people’s movements and the sacrifices of martyrs. They called on all citizens to protect and strengthen democracy, federalism, inclusiveness and the achievements guaranteed by the Constitution.
