Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane on Wednesday urged voters in Siraha-4 not to trade their future for cash during Nepal’s ongoing election campaign. Speaking at a campaign event in support of RSP candidate Tapeshwar Yadav, Lamichhane warned against vote buying and the practice of offering money in exchange for ballots.
“Do not sell your future for money,” Lamichhane told supporters. He urged voters to remain alert and question those attempting to influence the election through financial incentives. However, he added that if money is distributed, voters may accept it, arguing that such funds ultimately belong to the public.
“If someone gives you money, you can take it because that is our stolen money,” he said. “If they steal our money and return it to us, there is no sin in taking our own money. But it is wrong to vote for the wrong person.”
Lamichhane described the issue as one of civic responsibility and called on voters to make independent decisions at the ballot box regardless of financial inducements. His remarks come as political parties intensify campaigning ahead of the upcoming elections in Nepal.
