A Pokhara woman murder has shocked the city after a 42-year-old single woman was stabbed to death on Wednesday evening. The incident has raised serious concerns over public safety in the tourist hub.
Police identified the victim as Srijana Paudel, a resident of Malepatan-5 in Pokhara. According to Kaski police, she was attacked with a sharp weapon while heading towards Srijanachowk.
Brutal Attack Leaves Woman Dead
Kaski District Police spokesperson DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet said the attack took place near Prithvichowk. Paudel, who operated a shop in the area, was reportedly on her way when the assailant struck.
She was rushed to Gandaki Medical College for treatment immediately after the attack. However, doctors declared her dead during treatment. Police confirmed that the weapon used in the attack was sharp, indicating a deliberate and violent assault.
Police Launch Intensive Manhunt
Authorities said the suspect behind the Pokhara woman murder remains unidentified, and the motive is still unclear. Police have launched an intensive search operation to track down those involved.
“We are actively investigating and searching for the suspect,” DSP Basnet said, adding that all angles are being examined.
Concerns Rise Over Safety in Pokhara
The killing has triggered concern among residents, especially given that Paudel was living alone after her husband’s death some time ago. Locals say the incident highlights growing fears about safety, particularly for women, in areas that are otherwise considered relatively secure.
Police have urged the public to share any information that could assist in the investigation, as pressure mounts to solve the case quickly.
