K. P. Sharma Oli Taken to Hospital After Arrest in Kathmandu for Medical Examination

Former Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli was taken to a hospital for a medical check-up after being arrested in Kathmandu, with formal investigation set to begin on Sunday.

Kathmandu — K. P. Sharma Oli was taken to a hospital for a medical examination following his arrest on Saturday, police said. Oli was detained earlier in the morning from Gundoo, Bhaktapur, and transported to the Kathmandu District Police Range office in Bhadra Kali. Authorities subsequently transferred him to a hospital for a routine health check-up.

Police officials said he will be brought back to the police office after the examination. As Saturday is a public holiday, formal investigation procedures will begin on Sunday. Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa confirmed the schedule.

The arrest follows the government’s decision to implement recommendations made by a commission investigating the “Gen Z movement.” The incidents under review occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24, when Oli was serving as prime minister.

The case has attracted significant public and political attention, with further investigation expected in the coming days.
