Central leaders of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal have joined the Nepali Congress during a program organized in Sarlahi on Saturday. Manish Mishra and Kedarnandan Chaudhary formally entered the Nepali Congress at the event. Several JSP leaders and party cadres also joined the Congress along with them.
Background of the Leaders After Party Unification
The development follows the recent unification between JSP Nepal and the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP). Mishra previously served as General Secretary of LSP. After the merger, he became a member of the Central Coordination Committee formed under the unified JSP.
Chaudhary, also a former LSP leader, was not included in the newly formed Central Coordination Committee following the merger, according to JSP Nepal publicity department chief Purna Basnet.
Gagan Thapa Welcomes New Members
The new entrants were welcomed into the party by Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa. Addressing the program, Thapa said that democratic values, inclusive thinking, and a shared development goal have brought leaders from different political backgrounds together.
“Country needs stability, good governance, and result-oriented development. For that, forces with shared principles must move forward together,” he said.
