Youth-led organization Gen Z 2.0 has announced its support for CPN-UML Vice Chair and former Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel in Rupandehi Constituency-2 for Nepal’s parliamentary election scheduled for March 5 (Falgun 21).
The nationwide youth group said its endorsement is based on candidate performance and capability rather than political party affiliation.
Decision Based on Field Assessment
Gen Z 2.0 spokesperson Avin Limbu said the decision followed internal opinion surveys, background reviews and field reporting conducted in Rupandehi-2.
According to Limbu, Paudel’s contributions to physical infrastructure development, road construction, and issues concerning landless and marginalized communities were key factors in the endorsement.
“We evaluated the candidate’s work, not the party,” Limbu said. He added that approximately 15 members of the group have been conducting field-level reporting in the constituency. Due to the election code of conduct, the group has not made those operational details public.
Different Endorsements in Other Districts
Gen Z 2.0 also announced support for different candidates in other districts as part of its constituency-based strategy. In Sarlahi, the group has endorsed Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa. In Chitwan, it has backed CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Renu Dahal.
Limbu said that reports from Sarlahi indicated that the previously elected representative had not adequately addressed public concerns despite repeated electoral victories, leading the group to support Thapa. In Chitwan, Dahal’s leadership profile and local performance were cited as reasons for endorsement.
The group stated that its position is to support candidates who can deliver results for the public, regardless of political ideology. “Our priority is the individual candidate and their plans, not their political alignment,” Limbu said.
Gen Z 2.0 said it will continue evaluating candidates across Nepal based on background, track record and public engagement before making further endorsements.
