Balen Shah has formally submitted his resignation from the post of mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. According to the resignation letter, Shah has stepped down from his position citing constitutional and legal provisions related to local governance.
In the letter addressed to the deputy mayor, he states that his resignation is being submitted in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal and prevailing laws governing local governments. The resignation letter is dated and officially registered at the Kathmandu Metropolitan City office.

Deputy Mayor to Handle City Administration
Following the submission of the resignation, responsibility for the executive functions of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has shifted to Sunita Dangol, as per existing legal provisions. Municipal sources said that regular administrative work and public services will continue without interruption.
