Addressing a UML national workshop in Kathmandu, Oli urged restraint within state institutions and said Nepal’s political landscape can change rapidly.

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has cautioned state institutions and officials against treating the current political environment as a permanent reality, arguing that Nepal’s political history shows that no power arrangement lasts forever.

Addressing a two-day national workshop on membership renewal and expansion in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Oli expressed dissatisfaction with the present political situation and urged those working within state mechanisms to exercise restraint. His remarks came at a time when political parties are increasingly focused on internal organization and positioning themselves for future shifts in the national landscape.

Oli said Nepal has repeatedly witnessed dramatic political transitions, recalling the end of the Rana regime, the collapse of the Panchayat system and the abolition of the monarchy. Drawing a parallel with those changes, he argued that what he described as growing tendencies of disorder and political instability would also not endure indefinitely.

Warning Against Excessive Activism

Without naming any specific institution or official, Oli suggested that some individuals within state structures were behaving as though the existing balance of power represented a final and unquestionable reality.

He urged them not to move “too far ahead” in their actions, stressing that political circumstances can change and take unexpected turns. His message centered on caution, patience and an awareness that the country’s political trajectory has often shifted in ways that once seemed unlikely.

Focus on Strengthening Party Organization

The UML chairman also linked the workshop to the party’s broader organizational campaign. He said the programme was intended to address confusion, uncertainty and inactivity seen among some party members and structures.

According to Oli, participants are expected to return to their respective areas with renewed confidence, stronger motivation and a clearer political direction. The workshop has been framed as part of the UML’s effort to reinforce grassroots organization and improve membership management across the country.

Leaders Gather in Kathmandu

The event has brought together district chairpersons and secretaries, provincial office bearers, party in-charges, representatives from the organization department and leaders of various affiliated organizations.

Organized by the UML Central Organization Department, the workshop will continue for two days.

Membership Drive at the Center of UML Strategy

Party leaders have presented the programme as a key step toward making membership administration, organizational expansion and cadre mobilization more effective.

The emphasis on organizational strengthening reflects a broader effort by the UML to consolidate its structure nationwide at a time when political parties are preparing for future challenges and realignments within Nepal’s evolving political landscape.
