Nepali Congress Questions Gen Z Movement Probe Report, Forms Review Committee

Kathmandu — Nepali Congress has expressed concerns over the completeness of a report prepared by an investigation commission into the crackdown on the Gen Z movement, saying it appears incomplete at first glance.

Speaking at a press conference at the party’s central office on Thursday, spokesperson Devaraj Chalise said the report does not fully capture the sequence of events surrounding the protests.

He noted that while the report attempts to explain incidents that occurred on Bhadra 23, it does not clearly address developments on the following day, Bhadra 24. According to Chalise, this gap leaves the overall account of events incomplete.

Chalise said the party has not yet completed a detailed review but will examine the report seriously before forming an official position. To conduct a thorough assessment, the Nepali Congress has formed a committee comprising legal experts, individuals with administrative experience, activists involved in the Gen Z movement, and other specialists.

He added that the party will issue its official position only after the committee completes its study. The party will also review findings from both the investigation commission and the National Human Rights Commission as part of the process.
