The candidacy of Kishori Sah Kamal of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for the House of Representatives from Dhanusha Constituency No. 1 has been annulled by Nepal’s Election Commission. The Election Commission invalidated his nomination on Monday after completing a review process, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said.
Manoj Baral, the Returning Officer for Dhanusha–1, said a complaint had been filed against Kamal during the claim and objection period. The matter was then referred to the Election Commission for a final decision. The complaint concerned allegations that the candidate had been placed on a blacklist.
“During the claim and objection period, a complaint was registered, and we forwarded the documents to the Commission for a decision,” Baral said. “We have received the Commission’s written decision stating that the candidacy has been annulled.”
Following the decision, the list of candidates contesting in Dhanusha Constituency No. 1 has been finalized. The remaining candidates are Ramchandra Mandal of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), Rampaltan Sah of the Nepali Congress, Matrika Prasad Yadav of the Communist Party of Nepal, Deepak Karki of the Janata Samajbadi Party, and Brahmadev Mahato of the Janamat Party.
The Election Commission stated that the decision was taken in accordance with existing legal provisions.
