Nepal Rastra Bank Sets US Dollar Selling Rate at Rs 154.23

Updated rates also place the euro above Rs 175 and the pound sterling above Rs 206 on the selling side.

Nepal Rastra Bank has set the US dollar’s selling rate at Rs 154.23 for today, while banks will buy the currency at Rs 153.63.

The central bank’s latest reference rates also place the euro above Rs 175 and the pound sterling above Rs 206 on the selling side. The figures matter directly to importers, travellers, students and families receiving money from abroad, although the rate customers receive from commercial banks may vary.

Dollar at Rs 154.23, pound crosses Rs 206

The euro has been fixed at Rs 175.15 for buying and Rs 175.83 for selling. The buying rate for the UK pound sterling is Rs 205.56, while its selling rate stands at Rs 206.37.

The Swiss franc will be bought at Rs 189.19 and sold at Rs 189.93.

For the Australian dollar, Nepal Rastra Bank has set a buying rate of Rs 106.81 and a selling rate of Rs 107.23. The Canadian dollar stands at Rs 109.07 for buying and Rs 109.50 for selling.

The Singapore dollar has been valued at Rs 118.85 on the buying side and Rs 119.32 on the selling side.

Asian currencies

The buying rate for 10 Japanese yen is Rs 9.47, while the selling rate is Rs 9.51.

The Chinese yuan has been fixed at Rs 22.66 for buying and Rs 22.75 for selling.

The Thai baht stands at Rs 4.58 for buying and Rs 4.60 for selling. For 100 South Korean won, the buying rate is Rs 10.28 and the selling rate is Rs 10.32.

The Malaysian ringgit, another currency closely followed by Nepali migrant workers and their families, has been set at Rs 37.67 for buying and Rs 37.82 for selling.

The Hong Kong dollar will be bought at Rs 19.60 and sold at Rs 19.68.

Rates for major Gulf currencies

Among currencies from major foreign employment destinations, the Saudi Arabian riyal has a buying rate of Rs 40.90 and a selling rate of Rs 41.06.

The Qatari riyal stands at Rs 42.15 for buying and Rs 42.31 for selling. The UAE dirham has been fixed at Rs 41.83 on the buying side and Rs 41.99 on the selling side.

Higher-valued Gulf currencies remain far above the US dollar in rupee terms. The Kuwaiti dinar has reached Rs 499.20 for buying and Rs 501.15 for selling.

The Bahraini dinar will be bought at Rs 407.45 and sold at Rs 409.04. The Omani riyal has been set at Rs 399.02 for buying and Rs 400.58 for selling.

These rates are closely watched across Nepal because changes in Gulf currencies affect the rupee value of remittances sent home. Even a small shift can alter the amount received when large transfers are converted.

European and regional rates

The Swedish krona has a buying rate of Rs 15.87 and a selling rate of Rs 15.93. The Danish krone stands at Rs 23.43 for buying and Rs 23.52 for selling.

For 100 Indian rupees, Nepal Rastra Bank has maintained the buying rate at Rs 160 and the selling rate at Rs 160.15.

The central bank said the exchange rates may be revised at any time depending on market conditions. It also noted that these are reference rates and that commercial banks may apply slightly different rates when conducting transactions with customers.
