118 Candidates File Nominations Across Six Morang Constituencies for House Elections

A total of 118 candidates have registered their nominations in six constituencies of Morang district for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.

A total of 118 candidates have registered their nominations across six constituencies in Morang district for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.

Information released by the District Election Officer’s Office shows that 18 candidates have filed nominations in Morang Constituency No. 1, 17 in Constituency No. 2, 21 each in Constituencies No. 3 and 4, 22 in Constituency No. 5, and 20 in Constituency No. 6.

Major Parties and Independents Join the Race in Morang–1 and Morang–2

In Morang Constituency No. 1, 18 candidates submitted their nomination papers at the Election Officer’s Office in Urlabari. Both candidates from major political parties and independent contenders took part in the process.

The Nepali Congress has nominated Khadga Bahadur Phagu, while Ghanashyam Khatriwada is contesting on behalf of the CPN-UML. Kul Prasad Samba has filed his candidacy from the Nepal Communist Party, and Yagya Mani Nyaupane represents the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

In the previous election, this constituency was won by Diga Bahadur Limbu of the Nepali Congress. Morang Constituency No. 2 has recorded 17 candidates.

The main contenders include Dr. Minendra Rijal from the Nepali Congress, Dilip Bagadiya from the CPN-UML, Chandra Bir Rai from the Nepal Communist Party, and Krishna Kumar Karki from the Rastriya Swatantra Party. Four candidates are contesting as independents. In the last election, Rishikesh Pokhrel was elected from this constituency.

Crowded Contests Across Remaining Constituencies

Morang Constituency No. 3 has seen 21 candidates file nominations, representing 16 political parties along with five independent candidates. Those in the race include Iran Rai from the CPN-UML, Deuman Sambahangphe from the Nepal Communist Party, Sunil Kumar Sharma from the Nepali Congress, Amir Magar from the Labor Culture Party, Mitrasen Yonjan from the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, Ganesh Karki from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Prem Prasad Subedi from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Khadga Bahadur Karki from the CPN (Maoist), among others.

In Morang Constituency No. 4, 21 candidates have also entered the race. Among them are Aman Lal Modi from the Nepal Communist Party, Gururaj Ghimire from the Nepali Congress, and Jeevan Ghimire from the CPN-UML.

The highest number of candidates has been registered in Morang Constituency No. 5, where 22 individuals have filed their nominations. Contestants include Phul Kumar Lalwani from the Nepali Congress, Manoj Agrawal from the CPN-UML, Shiva Kumar Mandal from the Nepal Communist Party, Yogendra Mandal from the Rastriya Urjashil Party, and Asha Jha from the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

In Morang Constituency No. 6, 20 candidates have registered to contest the election. Prominent figures in the race include Dr. Shekhar Koirala from the Nepali Congress, Binod Dhakal from the CPN-UML, Opendra Rai from the Nepal Communist Party, and Rubina Acharya from the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
