Rewati Rawal, Deputy Chairperson of Tatopani Rural Municipality in Jumla district, was assaulted at her residence on Monday evening following a dispute related to a financial transaction.
The incident occurred at around 5:00 PM at her home in Litakot, according to Rawal. She said the confrontation stemmed from a misunderstanding over a payment involving a neighboring family.
Rawal stated that the financial matter had already been settled and that she had paid the required amount. However, the information had not been communicated to all members of the concerned family, leading to confusion.
“The transaction had already been completed. I had paid the money, but it appears that the information was not shared within the family,” Rawal said. “They came to my house after consuming alcohol, and as the dispute escalated, I was physically assaulted.”
Following the incident, Rawal was taken to Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable, and she remains under medical supervision.
Rawal confirmed that she filed a formal complaint at the District Police Office, Jumla, on Tuesday morning. Police have initiated a preliminary investigation into the case.
