210 Candidates Register Nominations in Sudurpaschim for February 21 Parliamentary Election

A total of 210 candidates have registered their nominations in Sudurpaschim Province for the House of Representatives election scheduled for February 21, according to election officials.

A total of 210 candidates have registered their nominations in Sudurpaschim Province for the House of Representatives election scheduled for February 21. The nominations were filed on Tuesday across all 16 House of Representatives constituencies in the province, according to Dilip Bhatta, spokesperson for the Sudurpaschim Provincial Election Office.

Election officials said Kailali district, which comprises five constituencies, recorded the highest number of candidates. In Kailali Constituency No. 1, 19 candidates registered their nominations. Kailali–2 saw 16 candidates, while 11 candidates filed nominations in Kailali–3. Similarly, 16 candidates registered in both Kailali–4 and Kailali–5, Bhatta said.

In neighboring Kanchanpur district, 19 candidates filed nominations in Constituency No. 1 and the same number in Kanchanpur–2, while 17 candidates registered in Kanchanpur–3. In Achham, eight candidates registered in Constituency No. 1 and nine in Achham–2.

According to the Election Office, nine candidates filed nominations in Doti, eight in Bajura, seven in Bajhang, 12 in Baitadi, 11 in Darchula, and 13 in Dadeldhura. Sudurpaschim Province has a total of 1,716,660 registered voters. Candidates from major political parties as well as independent contenders have entered the race.
