Damak Youth Wing Chair Resigns from UML, Backs Balen Shah in Jhapa–5

Chhabi Khatriwada, chair of the UML-affiliated National Youth Association Nepal in Damak, has resigned from the organization and declared support for RSP candidate Balen Shah in Jhapa–5.

Chhabi Khatriwada, chair of the Damak municipal committee of the UML-affiliated National Youth Association Nepal, has resigned from the organization. In a Facebook post made public on Tuesday, Khatriwada announced his decision to support Balen Shah, a candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) from Jhapa–5.

“From Magh 7, 2082, I have stepped down from my position as chair of the Damak Municipal Committee of the National Youth Association Nepal and have also relinquished my status as an organized member of the CPN-UML. Embracing change, I have decided to stand in support of the election campaign of Jhapa–5 candidate Balen Shah,” he wrote.

Khatriwada also stated that he has chosen to move forward with an independent political path following his resignation. From Jhapa–5, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli is contesting the House of Representatives election.
