The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured its first victory in Kathmandu in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21, as Ranju Neupane (Darshana) won from Kathmandu-1.
According to the final vote count, Ranju Neupane received 14,491 votes, defeating her competitors to secure a seat in the House of Representatives.
This marks Neupane’s first victory in a parliamentary election, making it a significant political milestone for both the candidate and the RSP.
Kathmandu-1 has historically been a competitive constituency. In the 2022 general election, Nepali Congress candidate Prakash Man Singh won the seat by a narrow margin of 125 votes, defeating Rastriya Prajatantra Party candidate Rabindra Mishra.
Neupane’s victory now signals a shift in voter preference in the capital, as the RSP continues to expand its influence in Nepal’s parliamentary politics.
