The RSP delegation is engaging with senior BJP leaders in New Delhi on Nepal–India relations, democratic practices and political cooperation, while also meeting members of the Nepali community in India.

As Nepal’s newer political forces look beyond domestic politics and seek direct engagement with regional actors, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane has begun a series of high-level political meetings in India aimed at expanding dialogue and party-to-party relations.

Lamichhane, who arrived in New Delhi on a five-day visit at the invitation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Nabin, is scheduled to meet senior BJP leaders at the party’s headquarters on Tuesday. The discussions are expected to focus on Nepal–India relations, democratic practices, political cooperation and the exchange of organizational experiences between the two parties.

The visit comes at a time when political parties emerging outside Nepal’s traditional power structure are increasingly seeking direct engagement with regional political networks. RSP has presented the trip as an opportunity to broaden understanding and strengthen communication between political actors in the two neighboring countries.

Focus on Political Dialogue and Party Relations

According to the party, the delegation will hold a series of meetings with BJP leaders on issues ranging from democratic governance to strengthening ties between political organizations in Nepal and India.

Rather than being limited to diplomatic discussions, the visit is also being viewed as part of RSP’s effort to build political relationships beyond Nepal’s borders and gain exposure to different party structures and governance experiences.

Lamichhane is accompanied by Joint General Secretary and House of Representatives member Bipin Kumar Acharya, Secretariat member and lawmaker Deepak Bohora, Nikita Poudel and Pradeep Acharya.

Meetings With Nepali Community Planned

The delegation is also expected to interact with members of the Nepali community living in India as well as RSP supporters based there.

Party leaders say they intend to gather feedback, concerns and experiences from Nepalis residing abroad through a series of interactions during the visit.

Ayodhya Visit Included in Itinerary

The schedule also includes a visit to Ayodhya, one of India’s major religious and cultural destinations.

The delegation is expected to return to Nepal after completing the visit and related engagements in India.

RSP said the programme is being coordinated with Indian counterparts in Nepal and the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi. The party believes the visit can contribute to expanding political dialogue and creating new channels of engagement within the broader Nepal–India relationship.
