Nepal Communist Party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has commented on the political situation in Gorkha Constituency No. 2 following former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai’s decision to withdraw his candidacy.
Bhattarai, who had been contesting from the constituency, has withdrawn from the race but has not officially endorsed any candidate so far. However, Prachanda said that Bhattarai’s withdrawal has made the electoral contest easier for the Nepal Communist Party’s candidate, Lekhnath Nyaupane, in Gorkha.
Addressing a meeting of the party’s National Assembly parliamentary party at Singha Durbar on Monday, Prachanda said that the dialogue held between them had created grounds for gradual improvement in relations between Bhattarai and the Nepal Communist Party.
He also expressed confidence that the Nepal Communist Party has a strong possibility of emerging as the largest party in the upcoming election. Prachanda said candidates for the House of Representatives had been selected in an inclusive manner, ensuring representation from all sections, and that special attention had also been given during the selection of proportional representation candidates.
He added that candidates were chosen based on public mandate, capability, and public image, and expressed confidence that Nepal Communist Party candidates would deliver positive electoral results.
