Kathmandu —— Continuous rainfall has severely damaged several sections of the Narayangadh–Butwal highway, resulting in a complete halt of vehicle movement. The District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), has issued a public notice urging travelers to use alternate routes due to increased travel risks.

According to police, the water level in the Binayi River has risen significantly, while road surfaces in Dumkibas–Daunne and Jhyaukholaa have become slippery, causing vehicles to get stuck. Diversions built along the highway have also been damaged, making transport conditions more challenging.

Police Recommend Safe Alternate Routes Amid Hazardous Conditions

In response, police have recommended the following alternate travel routes: For vehicles traveling west from Kathmandu or Narayangadh, the route via Muglin, Pokhara, and Syangja to Butwal is advised. For vehicles heading east from western Nepal, drivers are encouraged to travel via Butwal, Syangja, Pokhara, and Muglin. Additionally, smaller vehicles may use the Gaindakot–Pipaldanda section under the Kaligandaki Corridor after assessing road conditions.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhu Nepal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, has appealed to all travelers to use these alternative routes until further notice. While repair efforts are underway, the public is urged to avoid the affected sections and travel safely.
