Kathmandu Metropolitan City has issued a final 15-day notice to Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd, the company operating Galaxy 4K Television, ordering it to vacate the building it has been using in Kathmandu.

The metropolitan office published the notice on Tuesday, directing the company to remove its belongings and clear the premises within the given deadline. It also warned that any remaining property inside the building would be auctioned under existing legal provisions if the order is ignored.

The dispute is linked to unpaid house rent.

House owner Mrigendra Prasad Mishra of Kathmandu-3 had earlier filed a complaint at the metropolitan judicial committee accusing Gorkha Media Network and its chairman Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai of failing to pay rent and refusing to vacate the property.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s judicial committee had issued a decision on Kartik 14, 2081 BS ordering the recovery of house rent and rental tax while also directing the company to leave the building.

The case later reached the Patan High Court after delays in implementing the decision.

On Shrawan 28, 2082 BS, the Patan High Court issued a mandamus order directing Kathmandu Metropolitan City to implement the decision within two months. Following the court order, a metropolitan team had reached the site on Kartik 14, 2082 BS to begin the enforcement process.

According to the metropolitan office, the house owner again submitted a complaint after the company failed to remove its belongings even six months after the implementation process had started.

Based on that complaint, the metropolitan office has now issued what it called a final 15-day notice.

The notice also asks Gorkha Media Network to clear all outstanding rental payments owed to the landlord and remove its materials from the building. It warns that items left inside the premises will be auctioned through legal procedures if the company fails to comply.

GB Rai, chairman of Gorkha Media Network, has remained absconding after being accused in the cooperative fund embezzlement case. Investigators claim cooperative money was invested into Galaxy 4K Television operated through Gorkha Media Network.

Rastriya Swatantra Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane has also been pulled into the investigation and court process linked to the same cooperative case.
