Kathmandu — A U.S. military F-35 stealth fighter jet made an emergency landing at an American base in the Middle East during ongoing military operations involving Iran, according to CNN.

The aircraft, deployed as part of operations targeting Iran, landed safely after encountering an unusual situation during flight. Initial reports suggest the emergency landing may have been prompted by a suspected threat or possible attack, although the exact cause has not been confirmed.

Captain Tim Hawkins, spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), confirmed the incident, stating that the aircraft landed safely and the pilot is in stable condition. He added that an investigation is underway.

Possible Threat to Advanced U.S. Aircraft

The incident is being viewed as a possible first indication of a threat targeting U.S. advanced combat aircraft since the conflict began in late February. However, officials have not confirmed whether the aircraft was attacked.

The F-35 is one of the most advanced stealth fighter jets in the world, with a unit cost exceeding $100 million. It is equipped with advanced sensors and weapons systems and is designed to evade radar detection, enabling operations in high-risk environments.

Ongoing Conflict and Military Developments

Earlier in the conflict, the U.S. military reported the loss of several aircraft. In Kuwait, three F-15 fighter jets crashed during the early phase of the war, reportedly due to a “friendly fire” incident involving Kuwait’s air defense system.

In a separate incident last week, a U.S. Air Force KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq, killing all six crew members on board. The cause of the crash has not been determined, although U.S. officials said it was not due to enemy fire or friendly fire.

As the conflict approaches its third week, uncertainty continues to surround the situation in the region. The United States has deployed additional forces, including the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group, to the Middle East. The USS Tripoli was recently observed heading toward Singapore.

Despite rising tensions, senior U.S. officials have said the military campaign against Iran is progressing successfully. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Thursday that the United States is moving toward victory and has weakened Iran’s air defense systems.

However, the evolving situation indicates that the outlook remains uncertain as hostilities continue.
