Rastriya Swatantra Party to Hold Secretariat Meeting on Election Preparations

The Rastriya Swatantra Party is set to convene a Secretariat meeting on Tuesday afternoon to decide key organizational matters and election preparations.

Kathmandu — The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will hold a Secretariat meeting on Tuesday afternoon, with discussions scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm. The meeting will focus on around 10 agenda items related to organizational expansion and preparations for upcoming elections.

According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, the meeting will determine the final deadline for submitting applications from aspirants seeking candidacy under the first-past-the-post electoral system. The RSP has already invited interested leaders to submit their names for direct election candidacies, and the deadline is expected to be formalized during the meeting.

The Secretariat will also discuss expanding two key internal bodies: the Candidate Recommendation Subcommittee and the Party Integration Subcommittee. The Candidate Recommendation Subcommittee is coordinated by Dr. Swarnim Wagle, while the Party Integration Subcommittee is led by General Secretary Kavindra Burlakoti.

Another agenda item includes the expansion of the party’s Central Committee. In a meeting held on Sunday, the Central Committee nominated 26 individuals who joined the party from the group associated with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah. An additional seven members from the Bibeksheel Sajha Party were also nominated to the Central Committee.

The meeting is further expected to decide on forming an Election Mobilization Committee, preparing procedures for mobilizing proportional representation candidates, and finalizing guidelines related to election resource management.

In addition, discussions will be held on organizing large-scale party entry programs at the provincial and district levels, as well as forming local-level candidate clubs, spokesperson Jha said. The Secretariat meeting is considered an important step in strengthening the party’s organizational structure and advancing its election preparations.
