Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has urged voters not to divide their votes in the upcoming election. Addressing party supporters in Bharatpur, Lamichhane said Nepal would only move forward if the country’s old political parties were decisively rejected.

“Please do not split your votes in the next election. Either make us zero, or make them zero. Try making them zero just once—only then will Nepal truly become a hero,” Lamichhane said. He said some people had warned him that speaking openly could create problems, but added that he would not retreat from raising public issues.

“When you walk carrying the people’s issues, you either reach Singha Durbar or Nakkhu Prison. But I will not abandon the issues I have raised,” he said, adding that he was prepared to go either to Singha Durbar or to Nakkhu.

Lamichhane, who arrived in Chitwan after being released on bail, told supporters in Bharatpur that he was not seeking positions such as Member of Parliament or minister. “Even if I am allowed to remain just a human being, that alone is enough to turn the palace of corruption into ashes,” he said. “You may stop me from becoming an MP or a minister, but surely you will allow me to remain a human being.”

He said false cases had been filed against him, that he was declared stateless, and that he was removed from Parliament, but claimed that he could not be removed from the hearts of the people. “If you can remove me from the hearts of the people, then do so—I am ready,” Lamichhane said.

He claimed that the government which filed false cases against him was later forced out of power and fled by helicopter. Lamichhane also said that the current government would receive public support if it genuinely carried forward the agenda of the Gen-Z movement.

“I was targeted with political vendetta by previous governments. Rest assured, I will not engage in revenge politics,” he said. “If the current government remains firm on the cause for which Gen-Z made sacrifices, we will support it. The RSP will stand firm like a strong tree. I will also go to Kathmandu to meet the Prime Minister.”

Lamichhane said that on Bhadra 23, people took to the streets against those responsible for killings, but alleged that those in power were focusing only on the events of Bhadra 24 while ignoring what happened the previous day.
