Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that new leadership was chosen through democratic competition at the 11th National General Convention of the CPN-UML.
Sharing her views in a Facebook post, Bhandari said the UML selected its leadership through a democratic and competitive process. She described this development as a reflection of the party’s organizational maturity and a living example of People’s Multiparty Democracy.
Bhandari congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and central committee members, saying competition is a natural and essential part of a democratic system. She said such processes help strengthen institutions and keep them active and resilient.
She expressed confidence that the leadership elected through the convention will move the party forward by reinforcing internal democracy, collective leadership, and organizational unity, guided by the principle of People’s Multiparty Democracy adopted by the party.
