Independent candidate Mahabir Pun is almost certain to be elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Myagdi district, according to the ongoing vote count. Based on the latest preliminary results, Pun has secured a clear lead over his rivals, making his victory increasingly certain as vote counting continues.
As his win appeared almost confirmed, Pun posted a message on social media requesting supporters not to organize victory rallies or processions in Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi.
Pun said supporters should not spend time or money traveling to Beni for celebrations. He stated that organizing victory rallies would be inappropriate and disrespectful to candidates who lost the election.
“Victory is almost certain. Therefore, I once again request everyone not to come to Beni by spending money and time to organize a victory rally,” Pun wrote in his message. He said victory rallies should not be used to mock defeated opponents, adding that development work in Myagdi will require cooperation with political competitors in the coming days.
Pun also said he does not support extravagant celebrations such as rallies, slogans, or feasts. If supporters wish to celebrate his victory, he requested them to do so within their own communities instead of gathering in Beni. The Office of the Election Officer will formally announce the final result after the completion of vote counting.
