Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Khagendra Sunar has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Banke Constituency No. 3, securing 29,551 votes in the parliamentary election and defeating his closest rival Suman Malla of the CPN-UML, who received 19,615 votes.

Sunar won the constituency by a margin of 9,936 votes. Amar Singh Pun of the Nepali Congress finished third in the race, securing 13,215 votes.

Sunar is known as a Dalit rights activist and has been involved in campaigns against caste-based discrimination and untouchability. He has participated in protests raising issues related to Dalit representation in state institutions and against discrimination and violence toward Dalit communities.

Earlier, Sunar had been recommended for the post of Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security by Prime Minister Sushila Karki. However, his oath-taking was halted after it was revealed that three court cases were pending against him.
