Kathmandu Traffic Police Fine Nearly 2,000 Drivers in 24 Hours

Traffic police collected over Rs 1 million in fines as speeding, signal violations and unauthorized ride-sharing remained among the most common offences.

Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley took action against 1,957 drivers for violating traffic rules in the past 24 hours, collecting Rs 1.078 million in revenue from fines.

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office said 23 drivers were penalized for driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities also took action against 144 drivers involved in unauthorized ride-sharing, 185 motorists who violated traffic signals, and 181 drivers caught speeding.

Traffic police said regular monitoring and enforcement operations will continue to improve road safety and maintain traffic discipline across the Valley. Drivers have also been urged to follow traffic regulations and prioritize safe travel.
