Tehran — Fires have broken out at oil refining and storage facilities in Iran’s capital Tehran following overnight airstrikes carried out by Israel, according to reports. Residents said thick plumes of smoke were seen rising into the sky after the strikes, while parts of the city were suddenly illuminated by the explosions.

According to local residents, the fire that started after the blasts spread toward areas near Koohsar Boulevard. Large flames and smoke were reportedly visible in the surrounding neighborhoods following the incident.

Witnesses said the blaze also caused damage to several houses and shops located along nearby roads. Speaking to the BBC, one local resident said the explosions lit up the night sky. “The night suddenly became as bright as daytime,” the resident said.

Initial reports indicate that Israel particularly targeted oil storage sites and refining infrastructure during the overnight strikes. Emergency services were deployed to the affected areas, and authorities are continuing to assess the extent of the damage.
