Gen Z Protest Investigation Report Submitted to Prime Minister in Kathmandu

A commission led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki has submitted its investigation report on the Gen Z protests held on Bhadra 23 and 24. The report was handed over to the Prime Minister at Singha Durbar, while its findings have not yet been made public.

Kathmandu — A government commission formed to investigate the incidents related to the Gen Z protests has submitted its report to the Prime Minister. The inquiry committee, led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, handed over the investigation report on Sunday at Singha Durbar to Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

The contents of the report have not been made public. The government formed the commission on september 21 to investigate the Gen Z protests that took place on Bhadra 23 and 24. The commission includes former Additional Inspector General (AIG) Bigyan Raj Sharma and legal practitioner Bishweshwar Bhandari as members.

During the investigation, the commission recorded statements from more than 150 people, including government officials and eyewitnesses connected to the protests. The inquiry focused on incidents during the demonstrations on Bhadra 23 and 24, in which young protesters lost their lives.

At the time of the protests, the government was led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Ramesh Lekhak was the Home Minister, Gokarna Mani Duwadi served as Home Secretary, Chandra Kuber Khapung was the Inspector General of Police, and Chhabi Lal Rijal was the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu.

The findings of the commission have not been made public.
