Saptari — Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav has been defeated in the House of Representatives election from Saptari Constituency No. 3. Yadav lost the election to Amarkant Chaudhary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

According to the final vote count, Chaudhary secured 32,875 votes, while Yadav received 15,239 votes. Tarakaant Chaudhary of the CPN-UML obtained 6,715 votes. With this result, Yadav’s long-running parliamentary journey has come to a halt.

Earlier, Yadav was defeated from Saptari-2 in the 2022 general election, but later returned to Parliament after winning the Bara-2 by-election. Yadav had previously won elections from Morang and Sunsari in 2008 and later secured victory from Saptari-2 in the 2017 parliamentary election.

However, in the latest election in Saptari-3, RSP candidate Amarkant Chaudhary maintained a clear lead and defeated Yadav, ending Yadav’s parliamentary tenure that had continued since 2008.
