Election Commission Completes Majority of Proportional Ballot Printing Ahead Parliamentary Polls
The Election Commission has completed printing most ballot papers for the proportional representation system and is preparing to begin printing for the direct election system ahead of the Falgun 21 parliamentary polls.
The Election Commission of Nepal has completed printing 15 million ballot papers for the proportional representation system, marking significant progress in preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives election.
Ballot printing began on Magh 2 at the Janak Education Materials Centre Limited. The commission stated that printing of the remaining five million ballots is yet to be completed.
Once printing for the proportional system concludes, the commission will begin printing ballot papers for the first-past-the-post (direct election) system. The final list of candidates contesting under the direct system has already been finalized.
For nomination purposes, one copy of the voter list was printed and distributed to all districts across the country.
Candidate List Published for Falgun 21 Election
The commission has published the list of candidates for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, which includes 3,406 candidates. Election symbols were also allocated on Friday.
According to commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the candidate list comprises 3,017 men, 388 women, and one candidate from the “other” category.
The commission said the election process—from candidate registration to withdrawals—was completed peacefully and in an enthusiastic manner. The list of candidates contesting under the proportional representation system has also been published.
